The temple at Kamakhya closes for three days because the goddess is menstruating.
The story
Kamakhya on the Nilachal hill above Guwahati is a Shakti Peetha with no image in it - what is worshipped is a cleft in the rock kept wet by a spring. For three days from the sun entering Ardra the doors are shut, no cooking is done in the temple, and the Brahmaputra below is said to run red. On the fourth day the temple reopens and cloth that covered the stone is given out as prasad.
Why it matters
Almost nowhere in Hindu practice is menstruation treated as a thing to be celebrated rather than hidden. Here it is the festival.
Told differently elsewhere
This app has no rule for it. The date is the SUN entering a nakshatra, and `RuleType.nakshatra` reads the moon's, so the entry carries no date rather than a wrong one.
