Dakor Purnima Mela

Dakor holds Ranchhodrai - Krishna as the one who left the battle - and the story of how he got there is about a devotee, not a king. Bodana of Dakor walked to Dwarka every six months for decades until he was too old, and the deity is said to have come back with him in his cart. When Dwarka demanded the idol back, the price set was the idol's weight in gold, and Bodana's wife had one nose-ring, which balanced it. On Falgun Purnima the roads into Dakor fill with walking parties carrying flags, most of them having walked through the night from Ahmedabad, Nadiad and further.

The padyatra is the observance. Arriving by bus on the same morning is a visit; walking in at dawn with a dhaja is the fair.

Walkers carry a dhaja - a flag - to be offered at the temple, and take a bathe in the Gomti talav before darshan.
